he *laughs ironically* the bane of my life...or they were.

ok, spots, as far as i understand it, are caused by the gunk in ur skin trying to escape or summin. actually, i have no clue. i'm sure a search on netdoc or google will turn up some results. i SHOULD be able to help more, i mean i'm on fucking accutan and can't drink and shit cos of the fuckers, but i can't. odd, very.

Hormones. Makes your skin greasy, blocks your pores - hence zits

Sorry guys, part of puberty and growing up.

It can continue into your twenties too.

tea tree oil. gotta be said, thats what i put on the ones i get and it helps. you can buy little bottles of it from superdrug, or the body shop. give it a go, get your gf to buy you some if you feel self conscious getting it!

actually if you already have the topical stuff then you prob shouldnt use tea tree as well, not sure. sorrrrry.

hate when they do that! if you cant find something that you're used to, theres probably some kind of facial wash out there that will help, like clean and clear or clearasil or something. i meant actual neat tea tree oil that you apply directly to your spots, helps clear them up when you get them.

nice to know someone else is too! all i can tell you is if nothing sees to be helping, make sure you get down to the doctors n get them sorted out. YOU DONT HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THEM!!

Basically, they're caused by sebum (oil) that blocks the pores in the skin, causing spots. Bacteria breed in the oil, making it inflamed and red.

The excess oil is caused by testosterone, the body can produce too much sometimes when your a teenager, so you get greasy skin and hair.

Hope that helps, i know a fair bit about spots as ive had to put up with them for ages!!! ARGH!!

yay, someone who's with my dilemma

i dunno bout u, but i've found the accutan working miracles for me, almost worth not drinking. the dryness of the skin its bloody annoying, but so far it isnt nothing that a bit of moisturiser doesn't cover up.

defintely worth a look into (accutan) if u dont seem to be having any luck, and nothing else seems to be working.

spots/bastards/wankers etc etc...

i used to have a few, i dnt get them as much now...

things i used to do:

steam ur face, it may seem at first as tho u get more but its because its getting rid of the crap at first. do it every day for like, 20 mins or something, and it will keep your opres open and let out the crap, then go and have a good wash and use any creams etc that you may have
squeeeeezing them, some ppl thinks it leaves scars etc...but if theres a head and you can pop it, id rather get rid of it than let it go on its own.
if you have a spot with a hair in or around it, pull out the hair. if you see a load of gunk on the end of it, you've cleaned up somewhat...

also, sunshine helps, vitamin C is meant to...about it

Greasy Forehead

I did a search for some help on this but the results were surprisingly limited and dated somewhat (probably my crappy search criteria!).

Anyway, my problem is this: I am 21 years old and I have always had greasy skin, like most teenagers, but now I am more concerned with the condition of my skin. I find it repulsive and I never feel clean. Plus it is highly unattractive and Goodness knows I need all the help I can get! :)

So can you clever peeps give some up to date advice to get clean healthy skin that I can feel comfortable to show in public?

Help is much appreciated peeps. :D

Hi, information for both of you:
chrishot4u: spots are caused when your pores get blocked and therefore spots are fomed. Sadly everyone gets them at some point but some get more than others sadly. Someone mentioned tea tree which is good, but aloe vera is also gud which you can get from Holland and Baratt. I use this special tea tree facial from a company called Australian Bodycare. I don't know as it's available from shops as I got it from a beautician. It's really gud. When you do get them, don't wash your face all the time becasue it gets rid of the natural goodness on the skin, makes the skin produce more oil which blocks pores therefore causing more spots sadly. I got more aswel at certain points, but like you when I'm stressed which isn't uncommon.

Bristolmike: what you want is an antiseptic facial like the one I mentioned above. I know that Boots do a tea tree facial range and a moisuriser which gets rid of greese which does actually work. There is a product which when you put on your face, reduces greese by about 80% but I don't know what it's called, so if you're interested ask at Boots becasue I know they supply it.

Anyway hope I've been of some help to either of you!

I took roaccutane about 4 years ago, I still drank, did me no harm that I can see.

Go easy on the tea tree oil as it's very strong, I used too much undiluted and stripped my skin's top layer off, it was red and raw and painful :(

If you're a girl, use oil free make up and always wash it all off before going to bed to let your skin breathe.

It's not fair, I am only a teenager for another month and I stilll get them :(
