Cocaine & Nose Worries - Plz Help!!!

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I have used Cocaine now for around 6 months. I have used only at the weekend but have went on weekend binges.
For the last month, my nose has been blocked up and I have been constantly been sneezing and having to blow my nose.
What I found last week has put me of the drug for life. My nasal passages are much wider than they used to be and the septum (middle bit of my nose) is now much much thinner than it was.
This has really worried me and I am never going to touch any kind of drug again. In fact it has totally scared me to the point Iam worried about it every hour of every day.
That’s why I have come here.
I suppose the main question I have is will my nose get any worse even though I have have stopped using cocaine completely?
I have done a bit of research into this and have found out that cocaine constricts blood vessels in the nose which can cause tissue in your nose to die.
This is what I think has happened to me.
I have bought a saline (salt water) nasal spray and am using this to help keep my nose clear and moisturised. (Someone did tell me that these nose sprays can constrict the blood vessels in your nose further) Any truth I this?.
Also I have stopped smoking and am visiting the steam room in hope this will also help moisture my nose.
Is there anything else I can do to help my nose.
Please help me because I am really worried about this.
Will my nose get any worse even though I have stopped using cocaine?

Dude don't worry too much, if you have stopped using cocaine then your nose will heal again.

I used to go through very heavy cocaine binges, and it got to the point where not only was I constantly having nose bleeds and blowing out blood, but even the outside parts of my nostrils were scabbed up, cut, bleeding and sore.
I then stopped cocaine for a good few months and my nose was fine.
I snort cocaine only occaisionally these days, and my nose is always blocked up for the next couple of days but it doesn't stay like it for long.

    Thanks buddy.
As long as I know my nose wont get any worse now that I have stopped using it completely.
The blockage has stopped and my nose isnt really running anymore.
My nose however is very dry and crusty.
Iam hoping my attempts of keeping it moisturized will work.
Ive heard different things about using a saline nasal spray but it seems to be working.
I was just totally paranoid that my nasal cavities would widen further and we have all heard the nightmare stories about people nasal septums collapsing.
Is there anything else I can do that will help the condition of my nose?

I know I need to chill but you can understand why I freaked out. :nervous:

how can you people snort that stuff in the first place? HAVE YOU NOT SEEN PULP FICTION??!! :crazyeyes

What she snorts in Pulp Fiction isn't Coke... it's ultra-heroin or something, she mistakes it for coke.

It took me a second viewing to get it, but yes, she mistakes it for coke. Stupid bint!

    how do you know that?

Because he buys the Heroin earlier on in the film and then leaves it in his jacket pocket, which she is wearing at the time.

the people we read about in the press... the ones who have had to have surgery (tara palmer tompkinson and Daniella westbrooke for example)... their use must have been REALLY heavy to need that, right?

 The kind of use that only having their sort of money could allow.

cool. My experience of Coke has been mostly sitting in rooms while other people do it, and I worry about those friends I have who do it, but I am guessing their lack of money means they won't actually have this problem (with their nose).

Yeah, their lack of money has fuck all to do with them having a problem with coke, and their noses will still be getting ruined... but nothing that extreme, it should all heal in time...

If the effects of the coke doesn't actually physically affect you, the paranoia will.

Best left alone if you cannot handle either, let alone both.

I'm with everyone else and think you shouldn't worry about it really, especially now you've stopped using totally!!
6 months isn't a long time really for you to be using!
I've had a "columbian cold" now for most part of the last year!

The "celebritys" we've seen with holes through there nose will have being snorting extreme amounts on a daily basis!

I agree your nose will heal soon if you don't do it any more.. and if you ever feel like you want to do it again look at this... http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2t09i_spot-prevention-cocaine_ads... quite gross...

Well it looks as if my nose is starting to collapse.
It started on the right hand side now its started on the left.
If both meet in the middle then I'll have a totally collapsed nose.
I havent touched coke for 5 months now so why is my nose continuing to do this?
I thought you had to be doing at least 2 grams a day for your nose to collapse. I was doing a gram a week for 6 / 7 months. I did go on a few weekend binges but I never touched it during the week.
I cant believe this is hapening. I have a great job, great girlfriend and a great life.Iam drug free, going to the gym 4 times a week and feeling good about myself.

Have you spoken to your GP about it? If not why not?

I'm in the same situation. The last time I touched the stuff was in Sept of 2014. And now April of 2015 I can feel that my nose has gotten worse. No hole(yet) and no bleeding, but I can tell my inner nose is just dissolving/deteriorating. Less and less with every passing month even though I don't touch the stuff. Went to two Dr's who told me nothing was wrong. I'm sure that had to do with the fact that I had no insurance & no way to pay anything. I just got some decent insurance bit too broke to pay the co pay to see a specialist and don't really know what type of specialist to look for. Nothing is left in there except the middle part that separates bit that has gotten so thin. On the outside my nose looks normal but I dont know how long that will last. I keep putting carmex in my nose on the daily to avoid it being dry. Scared as hell tho.

    Hey there untitled,

    Welcome to TheSite!

Sorry to hear about your nose deteriorating. I can understand be scared about it, but it's great that you seem to be doing something about it.

Just so you're aware, here on the boards we try to avoid posting in old, inactive threads. This thread hasn't been used for seven years, so I'm going to close it now.

Feel free to start a new thread in this forum to start a fresh conversation about this :)
It's also worth bearing in mind that we're a UK-based site, so we might not be able to provide advice on things like health insurance or the medical system where you are.
