You can choose your partner, but not their family ...

When we choose a relationship with someone, we don’t necessarily choose their family too. If it works right, it can be really nice to have extra family who you get on with and care about.

But what if yours or your partner’s family really disapprove of your choices? Maybe they don’t like you being with someone of the same sex, or a different nationality, or religion.

Would you get involved with someone long-term who’s family disapproved of you, and you know may not change their opinion? Would you get with someone even though you knew that your family would never fully accept them?

    It would depend on how much they interferd and how much it affected our relationship. If they were constantly rude and derogatory or trying to split us up Im not sure how long it would last. Plus i wouldnt want my children having grandparents like that if i could help it
