Deleting old accounts.

Mods, I have a problem.
This is quite complicated (cos I'm a little simple) but I'll do my best. Thing is I have two accounts but am prevented from using the Publicly Displayed Name I want in the account I want to use, because it's the login name of the account I want to delete.
Can you make it possible to get round this/delete that account or am I just gonna have to like it or lump it.
If you can sort this I'll give you the details of the account I want to delete.
