Luton uni? Or..?

University of Luton - Anyone attended there? Any opinions from anyone about the uni, or the town itself?

It seems they've got an excellent psychology course, without charging international students totally broke (right, there I'll only have to spend my summers saving up £2000 for my share of the tuition fees, hallelujah. But anyway...)...but, I've heard the town itself is a real dump? Actually, I haven't heard any advantages except from it being close to London and Easyjet flying from there. Anyone got anything positive to say?

I could afford Swansea, Bristol (UWE), Huddersfield and a few others as well, but that would mean even more working, so - any opinions? Is Luton bearable or does it really suck? (Nevermind nightlife etc., London's close enough - but is the place really ugly and rough?) Any of the other unis mentioned much better options?

I've never been to England, and hardly have time or money to head over and take a look, so help me out, please?

I'll give my biased opinion...I did a psychology degree at Swansea and loved it, the people are great, the social life is fantastic and cheap, as is accomodation, and it's close to the gorgeous beaches of the Gower.

Now everyone else can come on in praise of Luton...

Yeah....well, just had another look at Swansea's websites. They've risen their tuition fees to £9000-something, which rules them out. Unless I get myself instantly adopted by an EU-member.

Praise Luton? Or even Portsmouth? Or UWE? (Bristols seems pretty...out of the way though)Or...Anglia Polytechnic in Cambridge?(does the polytechnic make it differ from other unis btw?)

Whoah girl, Luton's a dump. Of the list you've given, I'd focus on Anglia Polytech and Bristol UWE. Both are glorious towns, and you don't want to go somewhere you'll be unhappy - Luton isn't reknowned for making people happy.

The extra work you'll have to put in will be worth it to got Anglia or UWE, so good luck and work hard <IMG SRC="smile.gif" border="0" ALT="icon">

Trust me, I live in Dunstable (next to Luton) and I study in Bristol.

Luton is a no no. Some of the Clubs are good but the town is a hole. It's got nasty crime etc. Generally not a nice place to live. Plus the 'uni' is shit, despite what my mates who study there say. I am bloody glad Dunstable is just about holding on, although the infection that is Luton is starting to take hold.

As for Bristol, it is a wicked place. Historic, beautiful, a nice journey. I'd seriously consider UWE.
