Try looking here. Even though you're American, if you've been out of the country you'll have to apply as an International student most likely.

It says that you need to do SATs - I know my college was able to get hold of SATs for American students who were going back, and administer them.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

what do you want to study at MIT?
Places like some (not even the best) uni's here want more than 4 B's, though.

Good luck

You'll probably need nearly straight A's to get into MIT, and a solid 1500 on the SAT's.

It's as tough to get into as any university in the world. It helps if you have extracurricular activities and if you've taken AP (or in your case, International Baccalauerate (spelling)) classes. Of course, you'll be a special case, I'm sure that they will look carefully at what you have to offer...and this doesn't mean just your grades and scores. Hopefully.

Good Luck.

What Alessandro said, although I think AS-levels would just be an bonus, you'll certainly need to be in the top 5% for SATs.

Short answer: 4 Bs at AS wont cut it.

Yeah, but unfortunately any decent private university in the US costs about that much. My school is $32000 per year.

I'm having to cough up £8000 a year (well, my mum is) so I can go to the UK. Tertiary education isn't cheap throughout most of the world.
