when are you supposed to start getting offers?

i know im being a bit impatient since i only submitted my form 3 weeks ago, but i go on the UCAS site every day and all it says is "your application is being considered"

*sigh* i hate not knowing.

Sent mine off last week. You should start expecting replies coming through before xmas. Don't forget that UCAS have got yours, mine and about 300,000 other forms to process.

application deadline except oxbridge & med/vet is jan 15th. obviously if your form turns up before they'll have a look at it, but other wise you shouldnt expect to hear from anywhere until....well i dont actually know. my guess would be about march. sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you've probably got a fair long wait.

My experience (I just started uni so went through UCAS evil shit year ago) for Law..

Applied early sep... Got first offer late october from manchester (which is where I am now). Then a week later an offer from birmingham. Then in Dec I got a letter from bristol saying "we're really REALLY REALLY busy, please hold" and an interview at Cambridge. January: rejection from bristol and cambridge. Several months later: rejection from Durham (who sent me precisely JACK, bastards!). Weird thing - manchester was the last name to go on the form, and then only cos I needed a 6th choice.. Don't stress about UCAS, altho they are morons, yes, its true.

papillon, you're for int. rels & mod langs right? interviews at ox/camb generally take one of two forms:

the general interview; asking you about yourself , your interests, your character, just finding out what kinda person you are. just be prepared to think on your feet, and answer dumb questions like 'what do your consider your main weaknesses to be' and 'what do you think about the war in afghanistan'.

the second type is the specific interview - depends on your subject. for the moern langs part, you'll probly have to discuss some stuff in a foreign language, and discuss the current international siuation.

my advice would be: do a mock interview. v embarassing and annoying, but worth it, coz you'll know what it feels like to be under pressure. good luck!

    Thanks guys!!

Im really nervous about it! I have my grade 8 violin exam in the same week too!!! I think I just have to go for it and try not to worry too much.

Thanks for the sugestions of questions dazed dan, it's a big help. I will definitely try to do a mock too, as Im sure it will make me a bit calmer in the real thing!
