i really dont know if i want to go to university anymore. i've done my UCAS and everything but i no longer feel i want to go. i want to do something different like travel but make a living by doing it at the same time. i didnt apply for a gap year so thats out of the question. so what do i do? is it possible? i would really like to go into journalism perhaps or photography but i really dont want to do the whole uni thing. is that possible? if so where do i start?

Perhaps you could get a camera and take photos on your travels or write about your experiences.

If you are really unsure, why not try and defer for a year, go travelling, or try and get work experience in journalism. You could do a short course in either journalism or photography to get a feel for whether you want to do this long term.
Just because you haven't applied to do and organised gap year doesn't mean you can't go off travelling or do some conservation work abroad. If money is a problem then why not save for a few months and then go, you needn't do a whole year but a few weeks or months away will give you a better perspective. If you are determined, you will make it in journalism whether you have the qualifications or not, it just involves starting at the bottom and working your way up.
I think you should arrange a meeting with your college careers advisor who will be better able to talk you through your options, don't think it is all a foregone conclusion, but do act now, as leaving it too late will make it harder for you to get out of your UCAS obligations.
At the same time university is a fantastic experience despite the debt, you could write for your uni paper or join a photography society and build up your CV that way. The long summers would give you and opportunity to travel, and student discount would help there! You will have three years to think about what you finally want to do, you could even take a year out at the end. You don't have to pursue a career in your chosen subject and once you have it, often employers care little about the degree, just that you did the uni experience and put the work in. Finally, nobody can take that degree away from you. Consider all your options before making a decision.
Now go and book that appointment
Good Luck
Susie
