Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I wasn't sure where to post this..

I want a tattoo on my arm, in memory of my friends...I've looked at thousands of designs and I'm not sure what I want..I'm not a fan of having peoples names on me, because i think on some people it looks really tacky..but maybe it'd be different..I don't know

Plus there's the whole...Arm...Scars....Blerrrugh m'larkey...

Hi Em, I've heard of tattoo artists who specialise in tattooing with scars, I'm sure if you ask around, you'd find someone who knows what they are doing. Secondly, you could get it put somewhere where you don't have self-harm scars, arm is common, but mine is on the back of my calf, and the second is probably going at the top of my thigh (on the outside you dirty perves). If you're set on your arm, I think the most important factor in picking a tattoo is "how big" and "what shape"? Mine is tailored quite well to the area it went on, some tattoos can go anywhere, but with your arm you're looking probably at a narrow aspect ratio.

What do you think so far?

I think the best thing you can do is find a good artist. Most of the good ones will have seen it all before, and should be able to help you with design and placement.

IIRC scars can be tattooed on after 2 years

I know this is pretty old thread so..

When I got my tattoo on my foot I wanted it on my arm.

Was told for that the scars on my arm would have to be at least 3-5 years healed for it to take better.

Just a bit of advice! Also think it's a great idea to get a tattoo in honour (think that's the word) of your friends memory :)

there is definitely a specialist in Brighton but I don't know their name, best to Google for recommendations and don't forget to look at people's at because that matters, too
