Right, I'm always worrying I'll forget something! I'm going to Chicago tomorrow, flying out of Heathrow.

Travel essentials:
Passport
ESTA (travel authorisation)
Tickets
Hotel reservation (because it has the address on)
Directions to the hotel and to the conference venue from anywhere I can think I might need to go (I've Google Streetmapped them as well and written in landmarks, I love the internet!)
TSA-approved locks (ones the Americans can pick to make sure my gooseberry jam isn't a bomb)
A card-thingy saying I have a metal plate in my leg
A resealable bags for the liquids I'm taking on the plane.

What have I forgotten? (Obviously I've packed my clothes and stuff as well.)

Do you have insurance documentation with you? Also, toothbrush! I always forget my toothbrush. Chicago will be awesome though, how long are you going for?

Remind me to re-read this thread when I go on holiday :P I forget half the things people have mentioned!

Have you got a book or anything for the plane? Always essential.

Late now, but I like to have a printed itinerary of trains and stuff.

I had a printed itinerary with directions to the hotel, but had failed to print a map so got confused and misdirected (had been up for nearly 18 hours at this point!) and it took me an hour to do a ten minute walk with my big heavy rucksack. My poor feet.

On the plus side, I'm here in one piece and it's Pride tomorrow :D
