Etiquette for mailing purchases back

I ordered a CD a few weeks ago, and due to a misunderstanding it got mailed twice and I got both copies.
I offered to send one back and they accepted, but I'm not sure if I should put the entire box they sent in a bigger box or just open it, get the CD case out and put it in a new box to send back.
Aside from the CD case, based on the other box's contents, I only expect a receipt to be there. Should I send it back to them as well?

Just use the same box but put a bigger label over the one already there.

Use the box it came in or just send the CD back in a padded envelope or something.

I just put the box in a slightly bigger one. The label was too big to cover.
