Little things that cheer you up

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I'm feeling inspired after seeing a similar thread on another forum. And maybe it will give people ideas of little things they can do to cheer themselves up a bit.

Having freshly washed hair
Someone making me a nice cup of tea without being asked
Slipping into freshly laundered sheets with shaved legs
Watching funny animal videos
Buying a homeless person something to eat, even if it's just a bar of chocolate
Wearing a brand new pair of knickers
Listening to the rain at night

What little things make you feel better?

my music with out a doubt.

it can bring you up, take you down, bring on so many diffrent emotions....

having a warm cup of mint tea (actually used to have that when i was with my old therapist)

having a good sing along- even if you can't sing, it makes sense to just go for it and let it all out

try to think of something you look forward to happening

Oooh, yes, train journeys somewhere new cheer me up.

And sometimes going somewhere familiar you've not been for ages.

Yes. She lives with my parents so whenever I call home my mum puts the phone on speakerphone next to my cat so I can hear her purring. It's the next best thing to being able to stroke her. I know I'm not the only person that talks to their pets on the phone!

    well why not?

if it makes you feel good and stuff.... go for it

in fact- does anyone here ever watch only fools and horses? (sorry i had to bring this up because it reminded me of it)

in the episode where rodney and del look after the puppy, marleen phones home and asks to speak to the puppy- and it's either del or rodney that makes puppy sounds to convince her!

    it's funny

Rainy days. Inside and comfy or walking home feeling brooding or very childish.
The feel of a fountain pen on paper.
Staying away from home for a long time and then seeing my books on the shelves.
Getting into bed after finishing a big project.
A cold drink on a really hot day.
    When you make somebody giggle.
When quiet or shy people really laugh and smile.
Sitting next to a coal fire reading a book.
Clean, soft hair in the morning.
The involuntary smile after finishing a book.
Waking up and realizing that you have a while to sleep.
    Cold side of the pillow
The happy feeling after a really long walk
    When I see a quote I recognise
Small acts of good manners/politeness, and I admit especially from men. Gentlemanly behaviour is really sweet.

When cats make it really obvious that theyre dreaming of a good chase; twitchy whiskers and scampering feet.

    A decent sized blueberry muffin.

Catching up with friends I havent seen for agees.

My boyfriend saying something ridiculously sweet and unexpected.

Watching trailers for childhood films on youtube.. Yesterday it was The Land Before Time and Thumbelina.

Sitting in a hot bubble bath in the evening.
