I have seen 2 sewing boxes which are nice and affordable (ish)
1 - the traditional wooden one with 3 concertina drawers on each side on 4 legs - price 12.99
2 - a cute black and grey fabric covered sewing box that's pretty deep with 2 plastic organiser things - price £21
I cannot choose which one! I'd kind of want to decorate the wooden one which might make it cost more in the long run, but it has got a bit more room for an expanding sewing kit. But at the same time the black and grey one is fairly big and ready to go. Its also small enough to hide somewhere and store. And small enough to carry.
Your thoughts?

My knitting stuff on the other hand gets lots of room in a big pretty box, a knitting frame for WIPs, another (matching) box for stash and a large glass vase for more stash that I can look at as it's pretty and a vase with some straight bamboo needles in. You can see most of my craft storage in the background of the photo I posted of me being a tree in the creative forum last night.
Which one would fit better with the look of your home? That's probably how I'd decide.
And which would fit the bits and pieces you already have? I have as much knitting stuff as I want pretty much with no desire to dramatically increase my stash or amount of knitting 'tools' I have so the current storage I have fits what I have. It's worth considering if the sewing stuff you are keeping in it will increase in the next year or two or stay constant.
Is it just for stuff like threads and scissors etc? Where do you keep fabric? I assume it's not big enough to keep in the box? I'm interested as craft storage fascinates me.
ottoman in the living room for all my wool and fabric stash. I don't really have a "look" for my flat it's rented and full of secondhand furniture. I have a fair few bobbins, threads, needles, machine needles and various bits and bobs. I'm not sure still all though I'm heading towards black fabric on because I might be able to get a needle roll to match because I have too many now!!
Also where the heck do I find a flat bottomed project bag that's fairly big?
By the way, we call that look 'bo-ho chic' amongst my friends.
Just been having a look online, ebay have some which may be suitable. When you search try seaching for shopper bags and oversized hangbags rather than 'craft project bags' as they tend to have really naff designs on them. Unless you like that sort of thing.
Yeah it isn't boho chic when I have no nice pictures up or rugs or anything like that...really doesn't feel homely atm
That's a nice one. It's like my mum's one.
I rarely buy any specialist craft storage cause I'm a cheapskate. I have one plastic storage thing with special pins to store thread in, and a bobbin case. Other than that it's plastic tubs and Ikea's finest!
Bad pic, but this is my sewing box! : Attachment not found.
I also have three plastic boxes under the desk, and another three off to the left
