Friend needs help, think she's going to harm

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I need help because my friend hasn't started cutting yet but she's considered it quite a few times over the past few days. I'd like to help her but she's extremely shy and won't talk about it. I just want to know how to help so if you could give me advice on what you think would help that would be great. Thanks

Hello Silver, welcome to TheSite.org boards, I'm glad you can talk about this on here, you sound like a very caring friend for wanting to support your friend, she is lucky to have you *hug* How do you know she would like to start harming her self? You could try and talk to someone on your behalf for her, like a school teacher or even the school nurse, how would that feel Silver?

She confided in me a few months ago about wanting to self harm. I have told a teacher but she is so shy she won't talk to me. The teacher has spoken to her but that's made it worse. She doesn't seem to open up easily. Also it's partly because someone bully's her. It's her supposed friend who doesn't harm her apart from emotionally. Their parents are best friends so the bully expects my friend not to retaliate as they spend so much time together. Thank you for all your help *hug* From Silver

    Hey Silver-Skye,

Have just noticed your last post went into the moderation queue for some reason - really sorry about that!

It sounds like your friend is going to take some time to open up, but as long as you let her know you're there for her, then in time, she may well feel able to be more open.

Take care and keep posting to let us know how you're feeling about it.
