Im not being a dick, he has had plenty of time to read through the contents of this thread which I admit he does not have to follow the advice of. Yet to then keep on asking for advice after not following any of it means I thought it wise to highlight where I thought there was a reasonable level of advice.

    No, you're being a dick.

Several people have already told Mr. Ferrari that if he wants further advice on this topic, he should look through the rest of this thread first. None of us felt it necessary to be patronising and mocking.

Nice one Franki, you said what I was trying to much more eloquently.:D

What about sending messages though, it seems to me most people write a shit profile then stick their noses up at the messages you try to send them....

Why are you messaging people with shit profiles?
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Because most of them are to be fair.

My point still stands: if you're messaging people who won't put any effort into their profile, why do you expect them to put any effort into messaging you?
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
This is mine... Though I get a few people messaging me (but very few since I blocked straight men lolz)...

    Self-Summary

People describe me as grounded, gentle, honest and friendly... All of these sound horribly cliche however... I mean that's what everybody writes on these profiles out of desperation and/or a the desire to find somebody to chop up and hide beneath their floor boards, right?

I have dyspraxia, which is a disability, but which also affects physical coordination, spatial awareness and short term memory. It ruined my career as a bicycle thief.

I've been vegan for four years now, though I was vegetarian before that. Veganism for me extends to respecting other humans as well. I try not to be a dick.

I don't actually know what to expect from a site like OKCupid and I also don't know what I want from it... I don't see this as a bad thing because it's good to be open to new experiences, no?

    ......
    .....

Most of mine is a bit of a piss take and I just wanna be obvious and write how I talk... I don't like a lot of profiles which are "hee hee I'm so cute and unique" or profiles which try to make people out to be mega intellects... Well ok, maybe they are mega clever :p I think there's so much shit on t'internet.

Namaste - is there any reason (not a dig; just an observation) why you've not mentioned any interests?
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
You could change the "I'm a nice guy" thing into a bit of a joke, since you seem to be so keen to mention it.

"I'm a nice guy who can be shy when meeting new people. Once I get to know someone better I come out of my shell. I'm a nice guy once you get to know me. I've been called sweet. I'm a nice guy at heart. I'm kind, down to earth, doesn't take life too seriously and will try anything once (or twice). Oh, and did I mention I'm a nice guy?"

Someone who'll sleep in the damp patch.

    I've written one too:

My name is Adam. I earn lots of money and like to listen to women talk about the feelings they have. I am sensitive, but also I am strong - sometimes I cry over the state of the world while working at my job as a lumberjack. I'd love to meet a girl and pretty much make our life into that movie The Bodyguard. I can bench-press 500lbs. I'd love to meet your dad. Dirty Dancing.

Is now a good time to mention I have a large erection?

I do have interests on my site, I just didn't paste it all on here...

What I'm doing with my life:
I was just selected in the ballot for the Brighton Marathon 2012 and am running the Bristol Half marathon in September.

I campaign on issues I feel passionate about. I have been referred to as "the office Trot" in work.

I am content with my life and building on doing more cool things in the future.

I spend a lot of time thinking about...
Traveling (one day I wanna travel)
    Socialism
    Gender
    Feminism
    Animal Rights
    Environmentalism
    Fitness
    My friends
    Trade unions
    Equality

Six things I could never do without
    My awesome
    My cool
    My wiki-wiki-wickedness
My awesome (mentioned twice for double awesomeness)
    A pen to chew on
    Nakd and Trek bars (yum)

    Ect

Not everyone's cup of tea... But I have mates from all different backgrounds and was hoping to meet like-minded people on OKCupid.

Thought of this on my lunch break

"I'm a gentle creature who enjoys going out for walks in the countryside. I'm an amateur photographer and am expanding my knowledge every now and again taking photos of everything which appeals to me. At the moment I'm interested in taking photos of birds in flight. I've taken some rather good photos of black headed and common gulls. My next acheivement will be a swallow. I'm interested also in course and game angling. I've been going fishing since I was about 8yrs old.

I'm an avid PS3 gamer who likes to play the latest 'decent' games (RPG's, Racing, Adventure). I would definately change how many hours I play on my console when I find someone who wants to go out with me, unless she is a gamer too :)

I can listen to any type of music, rock, pop, dance, celtic and irish folk. I enjoy almost any film/movie i.e. Lord of The Rings, Green Mile, Predator, Avatar, The Aviator etc etc. And I don't mind the occasional chick flick. I also enjoy Dreamworks and Pixar films."

Also added this which I already had on my profile

If you live around 20 miles away, tell me why I should get to know you.

If you have any questions, please send me a message.

    Follow me on Twitter: @NewMoon1984

I was going to put this but does anyone think I should?

" For a few years I've been suffering from pain in my feet doe to something causing it and I'm hoping it won't be a problem. You can ask me why I have pain if you like :)"

Really don't get the point of "If you live around 20 miles away, tell me why I should get to know you."

Surely if you liked someone that much, distance shouldn't come into it?

Yeah but I don't want to drive 20 miles nearly every day or weekend and then drive back home. It would be a 40mile round trip. Plus fuel is expensive to fill my tank up.... £50 roughly every 10 days (although I'm trying my best to drive carefully and see how many miles I get per tank)

    Are you freaking kidding me?

Why the heck would you put that in your profile?

Even leaving the sanity of including such a phrase aside, doe is a female deer. I think you meant "due".

    My thoughts exactly.

Just go fuck your self everyone. I'm not wasting my time posting messages on here when everyone just takes the micky out me.

WHAT A FUCKING WASTE OF TIME.

Seriously dude, if you are hoping to make friends or a girlfriend online, you're going to have to work on your social skills a bit.

Lots of people here have made extensive efforts to help you, but you keep ignoring their advice - sometimes even admitting that you haven't bothered to read it! No wonder they get frustrated with you. Then, when someone asks a very good question, albeit in a slightly robust manner, you fly off the handle and tell everyone to go fuck themselves. This is no way to endear yourself to anyone.

A few people have slightly taken the piss out of you in places. But overwhelmingly, they've been kind and helpful and taken time out of their busy day to offer you some exceptionally helpful advice, which you can't even be arsed to read. Then you go apeshit and tell everyone to go fuck themselves. Charming.

I would like to know the answer to mist's question though. He's got a very good point. Why do you think that was a good thing to add to your profile? Genuinely, I'm intrigued.

Hmm. Was I taking the micky? Well, possibly a bit. But what does that say to you? Does it say that what you wrote there is a quality piece of work that's going to pull people in, or does it say that there's perhaps something that doesn't fit well between the concept of trying to sell yourself to others, and the idea that you would tell all and sundry that you have some kind of undiagnosed foot pain?

This is your first impression. People do not need to know all your shit at once. Especially they do not need to know stuff that is in the slightest way negative. This is what folk have been saying to you since the thread started, yet now, after making some improvements in your profile, you go and add that in.
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Putting a medical complaint on your profile isn't going to make anyone want to date you. You've asked for advice and people have been giving you it. There's no need to get shirty.
