Poem

Okay, so there seems to be quite a few poem threads which have sprung up but thought I'd post mine here anyway :)
I wrote it the other day. Comments appreciated.

(it's about depression, and how I've hidden it from people, so I guess it could be triggering)

Lies
When I was a child
I was told not to lie
When I was a child
I think I was happy inside

As I got older
the problems started
and lies got told.

The world was real
but I was not.

The lies I told
have kept me here
but also kept me from help.
The lies where everything’s
“just fine”.

These lies have got me a job
I’m “normal”, you see.
They’ve got me a roof over my head
but now these lies say
“do you wish you were dead?”

And no one will know,
until I break.

A crack appears,
I plaster it up.
Stick on a smile too.

This lie is so easy,
yet so hard; so good,
yet so, so bad.
I urge you kids
never to lie, or the
lie becomes real and
the real the lie.

I really like that. Until a few years ago I was living that lie. I feel much better now I've told people.
