Anyone else think natwest are crap?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I've had so much friggin trouble with natwest lately; I totally regret opening an account with them. At least I can do online banking with them, but having said that all I can do is check my bank balance. It doesn't even let me do stuff like pay bills, put money into another account etc etc! Their customer service is really crap in my local branch as well. Does anyone else have problems with them? :banghead:

I think they're quite good. The customer services at the two branches i've been to were good also

i,m with natwest and i agree, they are wank! i have a buisness account and a personal account with them.i'm supposed to be able to ring my branch manager directly....not a fuckin chance! and his secretory just lies all the time.on the odd occasion that i have spoken to him,he is no help at all...he promises to look at having a small overdraught facility every month, but never does.but i allways get charged £35 for being £2 overdrawn, when they know full well that money goes in most days from the buisness. there is allways a delay of three days when i accept payment by credit cards, but the cheques are allways comming out...just cannot get to talk to a human voice!!...so frustrating!

ah i know wat u mean. they nearly charged me for having an advantage gold account even though i changed it to current plus, but hopefully i think they're sorting it. im literally down there in my local branch every week though, coz they always manage to get something wrong. it really annoys me but judging by that other thread HSBC don't seem to be any better! not many other banks left to switch to really....

I bank with Natwest and Lloyds TSB and out of the two, I think that NW are the better. I can do payments and transfers with their online banking. I find that they are the more professional too.

Been with Natwest 10 years and not had a single problem. The online banking def. lets me pay bills, set up standing orders, transfer between accounts etc. Have you tried ringing their helpdesk?

The only problems I have had are with the online banking. And when I set up my student account, they failed to give me an overdraft, which I specifically requested. Fortunately, I am on good terms with my local bank and they were only too happy to sort it out.

After I lost my bank card, they were happy to provide a replacement card for me, and it only took seven requests and five fucking months. :banghead:

    Otherwise, they've been fine...:D

Their student overdrafts are crap compared to others.

Never had a problem with them.
Infact, they once called me asking if someone had stolen my card/cloned my card as I spent £700 in one transaction (the first time I spent over £20 in 4 months or so of saving £800 a month).

    Natwest are RUBBISH

I've had a lot of bank accounts over the years, but never had one as bad as natwest. They have no clue what 'instant' means. And direct transfers take 5 days to complete. I have never been so frustrated with a bank before, and I now despise them as much as councils. I paid MONEY into my account almost a week ago, and it STILL isn't showing. Floating about in the system no doubt, building interest for other peoples pockets whilst I sit here with nothing. Annoyed isn't the word :-( But they just don't care.

BACS transfers take three to five days at most banks; the only bank I know who push through same day BACS transfers are the Co-Op. And even then it is subject to recall if the BACS transfer was carried out fraudulently.

Cash paid in clears immediately so do it that way, or pay for a CHAPS transfer, if you're that bothered.

Oh, and try to pay attention to the dates of posts. This thread is from 2006.

    Hey there,

Banking is not the funnest of things and we all want it to be over and done with as quickly as possible, so understandably you are annoyed about this.

If you would like to make a complaint about your bank, taking a look at the Financial Ombudsman's website. They also provide a form that you can fill in about your complaint which they will look at and get back to you with their advice.

However, you should first try complaining to the bank itself; in this case Natwest. Maybe there has just been a misunderstanding about what type of account you have. Some accounts do not allow all services to be accessed online. If they do not provide a satisfactory answer, then you can escalate your complaint using the information above.

    Hope this helps.

    :)
