USB speakers won't work :(

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
I've had my computer ages and always had USB speakers plugged in for the sound (and it's been fine).
Since moving my computer home and reconnecting everything, my speakers won't work anymore (same speakers as I've always had). They are plugged in by a green jack and USB connection.
I've tried various things like using different USB sockets, looking in the sound options in the Control Menu, but nothing is jumping out at me.

Any ideas?

Green jack and by USB? Is it the USB that powers them?

Yeah the USB is for power only as far as I can tell

I know this sounds really stupid, but is there power going to the speakers?

Are any of the control panel settings muted, are the speakers turned on, and turned up?

Not much I can say apart from the obvious.

yeah i have power, the light is on to confirm that.

and nothing is muted, and all the obvious things seem to be sorted.

    it's bugging me!

    Here's something to ponder over...

After an hour of trying to figure it out i thought "why don't I plug headphones in to see if it's the internal bit that's broken or the actual speakers", so I did.

Oddly, sound came out the headphones. Now I have removed them, the speakers are fine.

How did that make them work?! :chin:

Might have been a loose connection in the headphone jack. Come to think of it I had the same issue with a set I bought from Play. Didn't matter though, rabbit ended up chewing them :p
