One guy said he recently got elected on the fight against the Tories likely rise in VAT.

    .

The Libs campaignedheavily pointing out that there would be a Tory VAT bombshell.

The Tories increased their share of the vote, the LibDems didn't.

Looks like it's what the people wanted to me.

To be honest mate this is not my idea of weak government!

Well, you've not seen the budget debated yet.

It's now 20% ...that's a fifth of what your spending.

Yeah but you said they had gone "up" by a fifth. They haven't. VAT has been in place for years. This budget only puts them up by 2.5%, but that's 5% on just over a year ago.

The Libs have sold their souls to the devil I'm afraid.

why does everyone say this. if they get one of their policies through its an improvement on no coalition where they'd have no policies.

socialism in a free econony is a load of rubbish anyway. protecting lazy people and those that make bad choices in life.
welfare is designed to be a saftey net to catch if u fall not a step up or a push up however u view it.

But welfare and bailouts and whatever you want to call them are ok for bankers?
Huge bonuses for railway bosses are ok when everyone else is being told ...we're all in this together?
The majority of people on benefits are not lazy.
Those at the top through corruption mismanagement and greed have caused this mess yet the entire nation ...except for those at the top ...have to suffer.
    And I mean suffer.
Bleak is something your going to be introduced to over the next twelve months.
You may well end up having to get by on fifty quid a week soon so if you haven't left home yet ...don't.

I think it will all come down to personal circumstances. My job is very secure for at least another 3.5 years so I am not worried until at least that time is up.

On the welfare subject, I am all for helping people when they're down and out. However, I'm not up up for having lazy shits sitting at home for 20 years because, quite frankly, they can't be arsed to work. It needs sorting, we are paying for far too much for far too many. And most of them manage to have a fancy TV with a Sky subscription and run a car etc. Not exactly breadline.

Hey my job is pretty secure until I get my legs blown off or I become a slacker, or quit.

Doing the second part increases the likelihood of the first, no doubt...
