Hat advice please?

I'm very light sensitive - this makes going out in the sun very painful. I tend to wear sunglasses / reactions lenses and a baseball cap. However, this isn't enough.

Are there any other type of hats that would help me a bit more please? :(

Wow - this time of year must be a nightmare for you Melian!

I'd suggest a wide-brimmed floppy hat - think Brigitte Bardot:

This will keep the sun right off your face and you can bend/rearrange it so that it gives you maximum protection.

    And you'll look purty :D

Thank you! That's the sort of thing I was looking for.

Also wrap around sports type sunglasses rather than fashion ones make a huge difference.

I met a girl recently who is in "Fashion school" (best translation I can come up with) and she specializes in hats. At the moment she is making a turquoise top hat. If you want one of those baddies I can maybe hook you up.

I'm going to Vietnam in July, so I could hook you up with one of these if you want? :p

Although not much use at the end of summer, I suppose.

    It certainly used to be.

I have tesco prescription wrap around. Its not the wrap around bit thats prescription, they have inserts but it all works out really well because the inserts sit like your normal prescription lens would without the crazy wrap around curvature, but then you get the wrap around sun blocking properties.

Try one of the specialist adventure travel clothing shops. The only one I can think of off-hand is Rohan in Covent Garden, but there must be others. Most of their clothing (including hats) is designed to protect against sunburn and, therefore, UV rays.
