A whole bunch of things, as I know my dad's family has been in the US since pre civil war and my moms has been around quite a long time as well. I know there are Irish on both sides and I know German and Czech on my dads side but I'm not sure of what else.

    Both my parents are English.

My Dad comes from London (no idea where the family is from originally, lost touch with them after my Granddad died.)

My Mum comes from Guildford in Surrey, and her family is part Irish part French. They left Ireland during the famine and the other side were thrown out of France for being Huguenots.

I got asked what my ethnicity was while making an insurance claim the other day, and it totally threw me. I stammered for a bit, told her I was white, then said 'wait, white isn't an ethnicity, is it?'. The woman on the phone thought it was funny; I wasn't so sure. Turns out the correct answer is 'white British' - who'd have known. :D

Both sides of my family are English as far back as we can find. The only difference I have is my dad is northern, and my mum southern. Leads to many debates about pronunciation...

I was born in England but my fathers ancesters come from Northern Ireland I found that out recently through my surname which originates from County Down. My mothers ancesters are Scots-Polish, Polish immigrants who settled in Scotland around 1910.

My mum is half-French half English (well, Channel Islands) and my dad... well.... My grandma on his side is half Austrian, half German and my grandad on my dad's side is half Russian, half Polish. Which makes him Austrian/Polish/German/Russian and makes me a right mongrel.

Has anyone else noticed that the OP's post is his only post, and that we've had no comeback from him 5 days later?
