We have to read it for Modernism. After making it to page 350 I'm very disappointed. We were told by our seminar leader that it would all start to make sense... err no....

anyone else made to read it?

I haven't read Ulysses, but the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? is based loosely on Odyssey (which is the basis for Ulysses). I don't know how similar it is, but it's very good and might help with the basic themes.

thanks :) may look it up if i get a chance in the library. we have a study booklet which was made by one our lecturers that sums up what is going on in each section. but if that is really necessary why is it such a classic? hmph
