Can I buy tablets for toenail infection over the counter, without having to go to the docs for a prescription?

Does anyone have any recomendations on tablets?

If you've got a proper full blown infection then you'll need antibiotics which you can only get on prescription.

If it's just inflamed then antiseptic cream may well help, if you talk to the pharmacist then they'll be able to give you the best advice without going to a doctor.

What Scary Monster said. I've been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Do it before it is too late, because when I took action, it was too late for me. I had to have parts of the toenail permanently cut off because the specialist knew that the infection wasn't going to heal. In the early/middle stages of infection though, I was on 2500mg of antibiotics per day. Horse tranquiliser :-)

In the meantime soak it in salt and water to help cleanse it.

    Thanks for the replies.

I've had it for a few years now. I got some tablets for it which lasted me for a month, some Terbinafine tablets. But I then gave up.

Its about time I got rid of it.
