Online shopping

Any one interesting in listing up a few or any of the online shops that you use, and what you usually buy for them. Im not after something in particular, but I keep on finding myself using the same old shops, and fancied having my eyes opened.

Even if its little shops or kooky quaint places, I dont mind, I just want some variation.
Beep boop. I'm a bot.

Dunno about particular shops, but if you use online shopping a lot you should consider quidco, as you can make a fair bit back.

I once tried Quidco, where their opening offer was to get 5 "party points" off Party Casino. You had to place a certain kind of bet. I followed it by the letter (or I thought I did), but the party points never came, and therefore no £25 bonus (as promised by Quidco). I closed both accounts pretty sharpish.

If you wanna do surveys, then do Myvoice. You get Amazon codes on Myvoice and it does really work.

Amazon and play.com, usually for cds/dvds/games/books, although after problems I had over xmas with Amazon I would not recommend them. I looooove Joe Browns for unusual clothes.

What kind of problems did you have with amazon?
  • Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
    HMV - ps3 games, blu-ray and dvds
    Play - same as above
    GAME - ps3 games

    Just re-joined ebay.

I also buy fishing stuff off the net.

With Fruit Loop over Amazon, it may have been because of late deliveries. My sister and I both ordered presents off Amazon for C'mas. Between the 2 of us, we had 4 items that came after C'mas. Then again, it may have been because of a pre-C'mas backlog even though we thought we placed our orders in good time. In this year 2010, we will just have to order our Amazon stuff earlier.

This is why I try to order a good month or two before Christmas.

This isn't really online shopping, as you give AND receive, and it's free, but you should check out freecycle.
People kind of advertise things in your area that they don't want, and you do the same, and then kind of pick stuff up, and give it out.
I find it's a nice way of getting rid of stuff that people want but a charity shop might throw away, and getting things that would've otherwise benn difficult to find.

We had zero problems with Amazon, but the difference is that if you go for the next day delivery or are a prime member then your stuff gets picked before the other stuff, so everything turned up on time. Though I suspect some stuff that people order last minute would not have arrived no matter what shop you order from.

Also to stand up for Quidco we've had around 70 quid back from them since we joined before the Christmas shopping, which is money that would otherwise have just vanished, so it does work.

Other places we've used with success include -

    misco.co.uk
    photobox
    Boots appliances
    bracketsuk.com
    Rotherham Buildbase
    www.birdfood.co.uk
    ovh.co.uk
    tesco.com
    www.chewbz.com (retro sweets woo!)
    Hamleys
    Kiddicare.com
    www.thetechguys.com (freesat install)
    www.getknitted.com
    www.turfshop.co.uk
    www.mothercare.com
    Argos
    waterstones

A thing that I can no longer recommend is the PC World "reserve and collect" service, as we reserved, waited the recommended 1 hour, drove to the shop only to find that the item was out of stock. No phone call or compensation.

Also Dixons took forever to scrap our old tv.

WTF? No Spangles, Texan Bar or Pacers. Seriously, they call themselves a retro Sweet supplier. All I could find is stuff I can still get in the local sweet shops :yeees:

Agree with you about Amazon though. Never had a problem, nearly always cheaper, deliver on time and I got all of the things I ordered for Xmas and birthdays last year.

    ASOS.com - clothes
    Ocado.com - food
    Gaydar.co.uk - sex

    Anything else can wait :thumb:

    Probs I had with Amazon;

Ordered a 'new' CD as an xmas gift. The case was cracked in places (fair enough might have been damaged during delivery although still not acceptable). The case was unsealed, took the disk out to check it and it was filthy. Literally had huge chunks of dirt stuck on the disk. Disk also incredibly scratched. Yes I did get a refund but it was a nuisance. I had also ordered two CD's as gifts for someone else and they don't work! My sister went to play one and it didn't work, so she went to play the other and that didn't work either.

My hubby has had probs with them in the past and advised me never to use them, should have taken his advice! I have ordered loads from play.com and only once has an item had to be returned as it was damaged, and often order online from high street shops etc and never had any problems except with delivery and that's usually the couriers fault.

But was that Amazon direct or an Amazon seller? Seems odd to me that you would get a used cd from Amazon. Individual sellers are not subject to control by Amazon.

It was direct from Amazon, I'm not personally a fan of buying from sellers due to probs friends/ family have had with various items in the past.

Amazon get their stock direct from suppliers, so im a bit confused about this. Even though its amazon market place it is still on the amazon.co.uk site

However I hope you had/have a good go at them!

I've had a few problems with amazon sellers, like THE WROGN FUCKING EDITTION of books, where the sellers don't care, when you let them know that althought the book they sent has the same title, it is missing the chapters that you needed to read. I only order from amazon now, not the sellers.
