So, as far as i know ucas works differently for art students, ill explain.

You have a choice of route A or B, A if you want your interviews abit earlier around x-mas time, theres more of a chance that you will get in to your chocie, but your portfolio will be abit shit(ish)

B (is the choice that the majourity of students go for) is you dont get your interviews till jan, feb march time, little less chance that you will get in but much better portfolio.

Now i was deffiantly set on chosing route B, like the majourity of people i know. But i was reading on someones facebook whos on the graphic design course (im on the art and design course, and the ucas system still applies on the graphics course) that ucas have scraped route B.

Please please please, tell me that this sint true?! In art and design you pick specialist areas, and i wouldnt have been doing my specialist areas long enough to make my portfolio strong enough as we pick our specilists in about 5 weeks time.

Any help please?!

    from the ucas site :)

it looks like they have? :/ it doesn't say anything in 2010 section anyway, i take it they have just got rid of it? seen as in 2009 you could do this.

In our school people are just doing portfolio art as a subject instead of say advanced higher art, but i didnt do art this year so i'm not much help. sorry.

im jsut so confused, its extremely stupid if they do.

I was talking to my boyfriend + friends about it, and apprantly there was rumours about it last year and it never happened :/

I jsut need to know, so i know to start my portfolio...

I will talk to my tutors, but they havnt mentioned anything about it what so ever.

    GRRR!

Ok! had a word with one of them!

she says "WELL there is now only one route and if you want to go into art school you definatly need a portfolio, most importantly sketchbooks and you still need a personal statement and an ABBB"

And as long as you have sketch books you may be ok.

hope that helps a little. :)

I haven't had the chance to talk to the other one yet, but i should soon.

thanks for talking to them :)! but i think it works abit different for a-levels.....I do a b-tech course, so that could be why your friend only has one route ;| but thanks for asking anyway! i have college tomorrow so i will see whats happeneing :)
