Hi,

Is there any website from where i can see the ranking of UK universities "subject wise" not just ranking. e.g; ranking by computer science or mathematics etc.

On the Times website if you want to look at a particular subject, type it in the box and search.

If i don't balls up my GCSE's and A levels, my mum is sending me to cambridge

She can't SEND you to Cambridge. If you have a chance of going, I wouldn't rule it our just to rebel against your mother, make up your own mind with your best interests at heart.

How can your mum send you to Cambridge when you're an adult and you make your own decisions and start paying your way?

    And what's wrong with Cambridge?

And what's any of this got to do with this thread?...my head hurts.

He just wanted to casually drop in that he thinks he's clever enough to go to Cambridge. Given his posts I doubt he is, but miracles do happen.

    Quite pathetic really.

A couple of my housemates graduated from their masters' at UCL yesterday. From their recounting of the speeches given, and my and others' undergraduate ceremonies, it seems every university quotes some obscure statistic to show why they are the best university, ever.

Definitely, but you'll find that every university specialises in different things and will be really good at them.

Broadly the reputation goes Oxbridge at the top, then Durham, UCL, Bristol and Warwick behind, then places like Newcastle, Leeds and York, and then the former polytechnics.

But politics at Durham is shit, really really shit, and politics at Northumbria is very very good. UNN's pretty good for law and education too.

 I've found this too. I'm off to uni in a week which is very low down in the rankings. However, it's one of only a handful that do the course I want and is the best one to go to.

Personally, I ignore the rankings. I would rather go somewhere where I'm happy.

Imperial is up there too, for science at least.

Bristol rejected me :( it was sad times. but now i think it's their loss! lol

and no one can send you to cambridge, you have to get yourself in, by creating a good impression in the interview. some questions include "define a bubble" apparantly. relevant or not?!
