The other day I beeped as I was walking out of the grocery store... weird. I open up my bottle of captain tonight and realize there is one of those anti-theft stickers on it.
1. It is a cheap bottle of Captain
2. It is a 175, I'm no theft expert but I can't imagine walking out of a store with something that size!
Dumb story. It makes me chuckle.

Anyway, all of the spirits have a security tag on nowadays. I remember watching an interview with a manager at Waitrose and he was saying that they've had joints of organic ham being stolen and all sorts. I suppose it's quite easy to steal something big if you're already doing your shopping. Especially with those self service machines. Just put it in one of your bags and why would anyone think you haven't paid?
2) the cheaper the liquor, the more likely some broke fucker will risk a felony to steal it.
What kind of bag are you carrying to hold that bottle though? I guess I'm a freak with my small purse.
I once saw a woman at a pizza buffet with a giant purse and she put a whole tray of brownies and a ton of pizza in it and left. I bet she could have carried it.
Think many people steal skol. Have you ever tried that? My stomache still turns at the thought.
A carrier bag with all of the rest of your shopping in. What's one more bottle in a £40 basket of groceries? Who's going to notice that in a busy supermarket unless there's a security tag on it?
But loads of women do seem to have those bags that look more like a small suitcase nowadays.
But anyway- What I don't get is why in shops do they put those stickers saying "security protected" as if it's saying
A) you're so stupid you can't see the tag
or
We don't care about the other products in this store, you can nick them, but not this one... it has a tag.
Lol x why not tag all the grapes? I mean, the amount of those I've eaten in the shop- at least a bags worth :-p
C-A x
It's because the spirits they tag are of high value.
they sell you liqour at grocery stores? We have to buy it from either a state liqour store or a "Casino" with a liquor license.
Not sure what type of bag you would smuggle it out in. I'm picturing a some bearded dude in unwashed hobo clothes just grabbing it and running. Guess that's sorta unrealistic though...
1. Do you mean Captain Morgan (rum)?
2. What is a 175? 175ml? Our spirit bottles are usually 200ml, 350ml, 700ml and 1L.
Plus, if it's 37%/40% rum, then it is a spirit. Liquors tend to be stuff in the 20% range such as Malibu.
Yes and 1.75liters. I call anything with an alcohol content liquor.
Yeah, liquor in the grocery stores. Gas stations too... one for the road I guess. Is it OR or MT that you can only but it like that? I thought minnesota was bad cuz you can't buy it on sundays. Or at least you couldn't... I dont know the rules now.
