It's my hubby's bday in a couple of weeks and I would like to buy him some extra memory for his PS3. I have absolutely no idea what he is needs, he said something about either buying something which you put inside the PS3, or you can get an add on which doesn't require you to pull your PS3 apart.
I'm not very technically minded as you can probably tell, and I don't know which is the best route? He doesn't want to break the law either, preferably he doesn't want to invalidate the warranty. Does anybody know what I need to get and the rough cost? And is it easy to do or do you have to take your PS3 to a shop for them to do?

Seems you can do it - just either need an external hard-drive or the relevant bits and knowledge to know what to do inside.
I'd go for the external option if it's for music / vids etc
