can you take mefenamic acid, while on the pill?

So my doctor first of all gave me mefenamic acid, to help with reducing bleeding and stomach cramps while on my period.
I latter went back, and she put my on the pill, as im now in a long term relationship. she said this too will help with my periods.
I took my frist pill yesterday when i started my period like she said. i have extensive stomach cramps still thou, and i was wondering can you take mefenamic acid while on the pill, coz it does help a lot?
