When i was 17 and passed my test, it was over £2k to get insured on a fiesta worth £100

Having a parent as the main driver and you as a named driver is illegal and is known as 'fronting', but I'm not sure that you would be able to get your policy much cheaper otherwise.

I've also had my parents added to my policy as named drivers and it reduced the cost - only until I was about 23 though, when it actually started to rise because of them.

As someone advised you to lie about mileage - i wouldn't say lie as such - just be honest.

If you're not doing intergalactic miles, just work out roughly how many you do. I do between 200 and 400 per week, so i'm insured for this.

When I just used to mill about in my cars, I was insured up to 9999miles per annum.

The older the car doesn't necessarily mean the lower the insurance, as new cars have new safety and security features:

    1) D reg Fiesta - over £2k TPFT (17-18)
    2) L reg Metro - over £1500 TPFT (18-19)
    3) P reg Clio - £1100 ish fully comp (19-20)
    4) X reg 206 - £800 ish FC (20-21)
    5) X reg Astra - from £580 down to £400 FC (21-23)
    6) 05 reg 120d Sport - £540 FC (23-now) (quotes from BMW, AA, and comparison websites all were about £1300 FC)
