The Hill is a great obscure Brit flick as well, interesting choice by Sean Connery, as is 'The Interview' a sort of brutal version of The Conversation...
Its set in Scotland about a troubled youth trying to set himself straight but gets caught up with the wrong crowd/drug dealers etc. Quite a dark film but was really well done.
