I can't help thinking that if I'd claimed £16,000 of expenses from my work fraudulently and then offered to pay it back when found out, I'd be looking up at a magistrate trying…

Actually in both France and Germany the wages are pretty much comparable to what MPs in the UK earn. And their expenses structures are more, well, structured.

I can't get too angry about MPs pay or expenses when you find that some 10th-rate BBC news presenter- a blonde cunt so stupid she can't even read a fucking autocue properly- gets paid £97,000 per year. A local news presenter in Yorkshire, Christa Ackroyd, gets paid a reputed £650,000 per year to read Look North.

Jonathan Ross getting paid £6m per year certainly puts £2000 on a new swimming pool filter into perspective.
