Hi, my cousin is moving to UK next month and we were checking how much funds he will need in next couple of months, so i was just wondering if people here can help us out on some reality of living cost in UK esp. in London and Birmingham.
Thankx in advance.

And can you please write their cost individually, e.g; rent--500, bills 40, something like that. Thankx alot.
A lot of it depends on the person.
Does he know everything he'll need to budget for?
Everything else is a luxury and prices will change depending on which companies he decides to use for phones, internet e.t.c.
Didn't know you were married, congrats! lol
I am thinking when I leave uni where monthly I spend... £450 ish I'm gonna have a big shock based on what people have said here hehe.
Rent + council tax = £425 (don't forget council tax!)
Phone = £20
Transport = £40
Food = £65
Bills = £50
Other = £75
So maybe around.... £675 - 700?
Bearing in mind I can't afford to spend much more as I am on such low wages. I also can't afford to socialise because some months I don't even make enough to cover basic living costs.
Does he know what sort of area he will want to live in? Where is he going to be working?
My rent and tax is almost £600,
Phone £30
Landline / internet £11
Food £70
Bills £50
Other stuff is obviously luxuries but can go up to about £100 depending. Also, averaging it out, it's probably about £20/month on clothes.
Indeed - doing the sums £65 / £70 per 30 days is £2.16 / £2.33 a day. If I consider that I have breakfast (milk around 15p a portion I'm guessing, cereal 25p), lunch (£1 if I'm at home, £2.50 if I'm at campus) and tea (at least £2 at home)... and that's sharing with 3 other people. It's much more expensive being on your own from experience.
But I would imagine that they grow their own veg and all that . I think, sharing the cost, we spend £20-£25 a week each. But my housemates do have an annoying habit of getting non-economy poultry and meat because it's mean, or something.
Shit your rent is high.
I live in Zone 6 see. Man, I thought I was paying a lot. :rolleyes:
3 are pretty cheap for phones.
Travel £116 (but free for me)
Phone £40
Electricty £30
Gas £40
Water £uc! kn*ws
Internet £10
Food £60
Credit Card £240
Council tax £95
Travel £99 - Zone 1-2 travel card (Not including taxis.)
Phone + internet £35 ish
Electricity + Gas £120 approx (winter and I had the settings on a bit long)
Food (supermarket) £250-300
Eating out £God knows
Then there are personal debts (credit card, loan etc), and mobile bill but those don't really fall under direct living expenses, more 'additional'.
:yes: i live in a 2 bedroomed apartment in castlefield (5-10 min walk off deansgate) by the canal and me and my flatmate pay £700 per month.
its too expensive for what it is really. can't wait to move out at the end of next month :grump:
is that just for youuuu? :crazyeyes
Council Tax - £80 (single person suplement)
Bills (Electric, gas, water) - £120
