So I graduated this year with a degree in Journalism and then things went tits up. I had a family bereavement and I got into financial difficulties and have ended up moving home.
Since graduating I've had three full time jobs which is awful in the space of six months, the reasons I left these jobs were two were utterly awful, they were unprofessional, forgot to pay me and had a REALLY high turn over of staff. The last one, which I was happiest with, started off really well but the current economic climate started hitting them and they made an excuse I wasn't "dedicated enough" (Even though I'd been in an hour early each day and left later than most, had all my sales taken off me and given to someone else etc) and let me go at the end of November.
I've relocated from London down to Portsmouth and it seems that wherever I look there is absolutely no work that I am capable of doing. All the job sites and newspaper classifieds are looking for specialists, with loads of experience and any time I get an interview they pick up on my high turn over of jobs in a short space of time.
I'm at the end of my tether at the moment and am even contemplating bar work/a McJob just to get some cash in. I ideally don't want to be going down the part-time job route though as I want my weekends free to see my bf who is still in London.
Can anybody give me some advice on what to do? How do I keep myself motivated and prevent possible employers from picking up on my bad record so far.
