What do grandmothers like for gifts?

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
Haha, random question alert.

I am visiting both of my grandmothers tomorrow...my ever so slightly estranged grandmothers.

I don't know either very well but I don't want to turn up empty handed so what can I get them? Both are early-mid 60s. Hmm..

What does one do?

Well one is a diabetic ex florist so she might not want either (tricky isn't she!)

Could do either of those for the other though. You know when you ring up and you just know they would rather no see you but out of politeness they say yes anyhow!!

We got the hubby's grandmother a really nice hot water bottle with a funky cover a couple of years ago. It went down rather well.

how about shower/bath stuff. Standard answer but lush do loads of nice stuff and they normally do some kind of offer like spend over £20 and get a free xmas hamper (or at least it was any last year, so spend £20, get a £50 hamper free if you were lucky).

Alternatively, do they drink? Perhaps a nice bottle of wine/spirit that they're partial to?

I gave my "step-grandparents" a clay pot that I threw on a potter's wheel earlier this year. I didn't think it was very good but they loved it (or at least did a good job of faking it if they didn't).
