Thinking of going back to college, funding?

I'm currently 21yrs old, have done a number of minimum wage jobs since leaving school, but I have no intention of working in a factory or a supermarket until I retire of course.

So I'm seriously thinking about going back to college and learning fabrication/welding, or perhaps some other trade, though I do have a bit of experience with welding. However, as I'm now 21, I'm worried that I won't be able to afford the fees, unless I can get a grant, but how?

I'm also open to apprenticeships, but I'm aware these get harder to come by with age. I tried applying for one recently and was turned down on the grounds that I was over 18.

So what would you suggest? Thanks in advance.

Can you do a part-time course at all? That way you can fit it round work and not have to drop your income too much.
