Right, my lass wants to go spend the day tomorrow chilling somewhere. Taking some food, a blanket, and even if the weather is bad, some jackets. She's had a rough week, and so wants somewhere really peaceful, quiet, with nobody around - rules out any of the parks in London, really. She just needs to get away from it all for a few hours. If I was back up North, I'd be fine - I know hundreds of places! Living in London for seven years, and I'm a bit stuck as it's not something I've had the need to do.
I've a car, and so getting places isn't an option.
An example of a place I know up North is Ogden Water http://www.ogdenwater.org.uk/ which she loved when I took her there. I used to head there to chill my boots from time to time. Anybody know of anything similar within 50 miles of London I can take her to?
Cheers.

Wont be many people around, apart from the odd dogger I guess
But if g_angel is gonna be there surely you can take a day off ?
Oh alright then, guess I will have to risk it on Hampsted Heath
Its very pretty and relaxing and there is a lovely pub down the road to have lunch in.
If you need to go on a train then i would reccomend Sevenoaks and hanging out in knole park - you don't have to go in the house you can just chill out in the park with the dear.
Or Wye - which is quite a small village with some lovely pubs and great walks
You can get the train to both direct from cental london - other alternatives are eynesford and shoreham.
Or lastly you could go to Ashdown forest to play pooh sticks or lewis which eveyone in the world seems to be raving about - lovely long walks over the south downs.
