    To be honest, I'd rather you convert to .doc rather than add .docx so that more people can read it? Just save as 'compatible version' from the menu man :)

    .docx isn't the future format, .odt is. The latter has been accepted as ISO standard, the former is shunned.

    ISO is the International Organization for Standardization. Basically it defines standards that "things" will have to follow, so "things" made by one maker will be compatible with "things" made for another.
    One example is the filesystem included in DVDs: no matter who makes the disc, it will play in all players, because they're all designed to read the standard.
    I guess there must be something about photography as well.
