Hi guys

Sorry if this is a bit of spam but it's good spam. I am here to refer you to mount&blade or more specifically the installer for the final version.

Their website is here: http://www.taleworlds.com/

And you can get the installer from here:
http://files.filefront.com/mountandblade+1003+setupexe/;11835633;/fileinfo.html

Best combat mechanics in it's genre (fantasy / medieval / hacking) by far, yet still massively open like morrowind.

The installer lets you play the whole game uninterrupted up until your character reaches level 6, and you can start a new character if you like. If you want to play on you buy the game and get a licence key.

The reason I've brought it to people's attention is because companies like EA peddle underwhelming games with massive advertising budgets that we all buy and just encourage more 'junk' but indie companies that produce games like mount&blade, uplink: hacker elite, darwinia and the like don't get this kind of money but they make great games because it's their passion. In fact, try any of those three I've listed - they're all great. I think they need gamers to support them to keep the creativity going in the industry lest it devolve into a hollywood sequel fest (which is where EA wants to take it).

But yea, exciting :hyper:

edit: Also, check out the Avernum series of games if you like big non linear stories in an RPG (think morrowind scale). Rubbish isometric graphics but the gameplay is second to none really.

Yep, tried Mount'n blade. Was cool, and the graphics relatively good. The bigger companies put more effort into graphics engine development or they have a huge budget to hire specialists within 3d graphics engine designs to do their job, but hey, it doesn't necessarily make the game more playable!

Considering that mount'n blade was mainly developed by a Turkish couple, the quality is extremely good.

I'll have to give it a try sometime - heard about it on some indi development website a while back and it looked interesting. I'm a bit of a geek for MMO's that try to do something different (I must have spent ten hours building just one sculpture in Tals of the Desert)

Dont worry though, I'm not saying I play second life or anything like that... I'm not that old...

It's not an MMO, just a sandbox RPG like morrowind, but it's still fun :)
