    after further thought yerascrote is probably right. the americans would have got "mic" from the irish so mc, m'c muc etc must be an angicisation.

    Mc = Muc. Mic would just sound weird.

    I pronounce it McDonalds, not MacDonalds and so do most people I know.

    Incidentally, thanks for reminding me that I have to go back to work tomorrow :(.

    Well, I almost didn't know because my manager that does the rota didn't put it up online for this week and I tried to call them yesterday and they didn't pick up. Then Rich made me ring them again when we'd already gone through the barriers at Finchley Road and were waiting for the tube and turns out I had today off so I wasted a whole pound on my Oyster :grump:.

    I get a lie-in for a change tomorrow too :D.
