Another hypothetical question

Imagine two people, John and Jane. They live in different countries, but often chat to each other through the internet, both using webcams.

Then one day while they're chatting, someone climbs in John's house through the window, shoots him and leaves. Jane has seen that through her camera, and she is the only witness (no one even lives close to John's house).

If Jane was living next to John, what she'd have to do would be to call an ambulance (as John is unconscious but not yet dead) and the police. But as she lives in another country, what is she supposed to do?

find the local number for the nearest police station and call it, explain she'd seen a shooting via webcam and provide an address

or record the video and stick it on youtube

Don't record anything for YouTube because the evidence you hold will belong in future to the prosecution service and the victim's lawyer.

Keep the evidence for the police to collect (once you have called them). Evidence as crucial as this is best left for the police to handle. Why get involved? You could become an accessory to the crime, or if the killer sees his image on YouTube, choose you as his next victim out of spite for recording his crime. Give the police authorities the webcam stuff and stay well low.

My question was more like, what should the other person do to try and get the injured one saved. If they called their local police, would they get in contact with the other country's police fast enough? Is there such a network available?

I thought the international emergency number was 112 or something... perhaps you'd ring it and explain where you were and where the crime was? Not sure though

If the police collect the evidence then the prosecution will have it anyway!

call the police in her own country or call 112.
the call handler would then take the appropriate action.
