Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
This is the next best thing to napster (seeing as it has flitered loads of songs) is IMESH. Its a new piece of software its as easy to use as napster.

Go to http://www.imesh.com to download the software.

    Grrr...theres 4 different programmes on here, which ones the best, I can't download em all, Napster takes up too much room on my precious harddrive as it is!

    IMESH is quality, better than napster apart from the fact napster has more choice, but Imesh is quality, thats what i use now. and also check out this, its really good too

    Go to www.musiccity.com and download morpheus. My Dad recommended this to me after he was barred from Napster (insert evil laugh here <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/tongue.gif">).

    Its real good! You can download audio, movies, software and all sorts of other stuff. One thing though - if u were a regular Napster user dont share all your .mp3's (if, like me, u have over 400 mp3s) U'll know wot i mean after u get 20 outgoing downloads and one very slow incoming one <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/eek.gif"&gt;

    Hurry up and wait

    Aimster is being taken to court as well in the USA, like Napster was, i read that somewhere, and through time i guess Imesh and all the others will as well.

    Maybe we'll need to become *SHOCK* legal !!!! <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/eek.gif"&gt; <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/eek.gif"&gt; <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif"&gt;

    IMESH is superb because not only does it do MP3s but also video and picture files etc. but it supports resume. Its major flaw is that there arent that many users and so some songs are hard to come across. It can also be quite slow.
    www.audiogalaxy.com is, IMO, the best MP3 download program. It takes up a mere 700k on your hard disk and uses minimal system resources becuase it is predominently web based. It works amazingly well, is fast and supports resume. There are also many members so ull be hard pressed not to find anything.

    can't believe you guys, no-one's mentioned Kaza from http://www.kazaa.com

    it's unfiltered (in the time being) so better than napster, can download from multiple users and is a lot easier to use than audio galaxy etc...it's also possible to search for everything (movies, audio etc) so for all those on a quick connection you can have fun with the porn <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/smilie/jump.gif"&gt;

    Don't worry - be happy.

    i dont like audio galaxy.

    I quite like it. Even if you can't get a song straight away, it's usually there under a different name somewhere. Others might be better, I dunno, I can't be bothered to download another program, so I'll stick with AG for the moment.

    Apart from now many popular songs are being blocked, just like Napster.

    Now we need a "next best thing" to Audiogalaxy <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/tongue.gif"&gt;

    Are they? I've been able to go and download singles as soon as they are released from there, chances are someone, somewhere has it. Maybe it helps if you have a decent modem, like my 512Kb cable modem <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/wink.gif"&gt;

    Oh, many people have the songs, sometimes you just see a little 'X' next to them so you can't download it. Sometimes if you intentionally misspell things, you can find a file to download though <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif"&gt;

    Not all of us can get cable modems! Not available everywhere, cost several million pounds (maybe not), that sort of thing... <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/frown.gif"&gt;

    Audiogalaxy is the best for rarer songs. Some popular songs ARE being filtered. Thats where http://www.grokster.com comes in. It doesn't have any filtering at all. It is identical to Kazza and Morpheus but it can search for higher bitrate MP3s (Morpheus/Kazza are limited to 128kbps; Grokster can search for MP3s up to 320kbps. The higher the number, the higher the quality).

    Audiogalaxy and Grokster/Morpheus/Kazza have never failed me. If one doesn't have the song, the other will.

    Also worth saying is that if your really into the clubbing (like me) and have a fast internet connection, say 512K cable modem (also like me :P), then you can find loads of full length live DJ sets on Audiogalaxy. I've got loads and they're taking up over 5GB of space on my hard drive!!
