stands for Hyper text mark up language.
Almost a given if ya know what http is. Antoher bit of useless infoz for you all there folks!
its not illegal til u get caught <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/mica/monkbum.gif">
Web adresses are really formed from IP addresses
192.96.48.5
Which can also be broken down into binary code but I can't be bothered explaining that... <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/wink.gif">
As those IP addresses are difficult to remember we clever people devised a system to make them more readable:
http://www.thesite.org
We type that and it goes and finds the IP for us.. <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif">
You probably knew but no-ones online and I'm bored... heh
Ohh, one other thing quickly, the idea for putting the http before the address is to tell the machine what your trying to connect to... there are other extentions which the address can start with such as:
FTP - File Transfer Protocol
