If you click the Start button >> settings >> control panel .. click on the ' add /remove programs icon.

If Internet Explorer is listed in the box them d/click on it and it should give you a few options.

One of these options is 'repair'

Hopefully this'll work, but only with Internet Explorer 5.5 .. click the help >> about IE button to get the version .. any hassles just write another post

What happened to your IE anyway? If all else fails then you can download it from MIcrosofts website: www.microsoft.com

Visit Alzaweb: www.alza.co.uk

When you say messed up your IE what do you mean by messed?

What platform are you running? I'm assuming its probably Windows 98 SE...

Please bear in mind that you will have great difficulty uninstalling Internet Explorer as it writes itself all over the GUI of Win98SE (basically its everywhere in windows.. ie. part of it)

Your best plan of action would be to upgrade, if your running IE5 or IE5.5 then I'd recommend going to Microsofts site and downloading the Public Preview version of Internet Explorer 6 which is very secure and I use myself. However you probably won't be on a duel ISDN line (its about 40mb)... God I love my job... muhahaha!

So my only recommendation would be to purchase a computer mag (such as .net) as they have (99% of the time) copies on a free CD of IE5.5/6 or NN6/6.1...

Just be careful when playing with uninstalling IE, I've had to do it here and I have ended up with no option but to flatten the machine thanks to Windows Protection Errors...

right, first one is easy:

view >> text size >> medium

will get it back to normal.

and this may work for the 2nd problem, but no promises...

tools >> internet options >> select the "security" tab >> towards the bottom are two buttons "custom level" and "defualt level". select "default level"

hope this helps...or that someone more intelligent than me comes along and shows u the proper way to work it

I'll be sitting on top when it all goes wrong again

yeah do what turtle said... installing a new version of Internet Explorer probably wouldn't fix these problems anyway.

make sure u unintall ur original IE first, otherwise the preferences will probably end up being kept the same. is there no "revert to default set up" option somewhere in explorer?

and wow, the techie dudes listened to me *honoured*

I've felt the hate rise up in me
Kneel down and clear the stone of leaves
I wander out where you can't see
Inside my shell, I wait and bleed...

If its prompting you for a password all the time in IE then you've changed the security settings...

You can change them back by going:

Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level

Then browse down and un-tick any User Authentication settings you've put... or change the security back to default...
