after it's over - giving things back...

Former MemberFormer Member Posts: 1,876,323 The Mix Honorary Guru
where do we stand on this people?

my ex has just text me to say he wants all the presents back he gave me as well as his spare (£2.99) nipple ring that's in my jewelry box. i told him to stop being childish coz i don't see why i should give back things that were gifts (dvds, cds, clothes, xmas pressies) and he can easily buy himself a new nipple ring as it cost sod all and why should i go out of my way for a three quid bit of steel (which i paid for anyway)?

what would you lot do?

i wouldn't give the presents back  that's strange...i'd let him calm down but give him back his nipple ring and things that you borrowed..but not presents.

I'd tell him where to go. Presents are presents. You don't ask for them back.

If he'd left stuff that was his at yours then that is different.

Tell him bollox. Its an excuse to see you

My bf wouldnt come and get the stuff when we split coz he always wanted a reason to come back and wonder what I'm doing.

Change your number etc if u can too

He's probably just a bit hurt and angry at the moment, and that's his way of showing it - trying to be a bastard to you. It's the kind of thing I'd do aswell, despite it being out of order.

Lol It just makes you feel better doesn't it, even though you know you're being pathetic and childish.

    Hahah, yup :D

Anyway, like I said, I'd tell him bollocks, its yours now. 9 tenths of thingy is the law or something.

Thats what I used to always get told when I was like I WANT MY STUFF :

    Good old days sigh.

Easy solution to that, don't buy your patners any gifts. ;)

Say this, "you have my heart, I want it back" and be all dramatic about it.

If its his stuff give it back to him, dump it on his doorstop if you feel like it and dont want to see him.

As for presents, tough shit. He gave them to you, now you've split up you dont have to give them back to him.

    what would you lot do?

    Tell him to feck off.

Unless you want to get back with him of course, in which case use it as an excuse to meet up and "talk".

God some men hey! My first b.f asked for his stuff back after we broke up. (he was moaning about it outside my house) so i chucked it out the window at him......felt sooo good:thumb:

Damn git left me the giant teddy bear though (guessing he didnt want to talk down the road with it) so that went in the bin.

Other than that i would say presents are presents...you give them to people...dont expect them back...same goes for engagements rings too. i never porned my ring but im sure i could get myself a nice new pair of shoes with it for the hassle of going through a break up:yippe:

I hope your ex see's how childish he is being!

my dad asked for his stuff back when he split from mum, sp she proceeded to chuck it out the bedroom window in tesco bags! - as a 4 yr old, I found this hilarious sitting on mums bed!!

However, I would now be inclined to tell him to fuck right off as they were presents - but if you dont want them then wreck them like lacrymosa says but I would dump them at his house!

Just ignore him, he's shit out of luck if he wants presents back. Kind of goes against the spirit of gift giving. Plus, as someone (?) so wisely said it's just a ploy to get/keep your attention for whatever reason. If he so desperately wants his piece of metal back then I'd post it to him.
