I was there this summer - it was awesome.

There's something for everyone (unless you're a pop fan). The atmosphere was really good, it's within walking distance of the town centre for supplies, the bands were incredible. I highly recommend u go.

I'm guessing from your name that you are female. In that case, make sure you go with a few friends, and if you're under 15 it's probably a good idea to wait a year or 2. I'm thinking here about the rape.

But if you're careful, you should have a great time. I know i did. <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif">

Reading was ok this year, the site is well organised but the line-up was only half as good as the prevoius years (2000). If I were you I'd wait for the line-up to be confirmed (Weezer pulled out this year), make sure that you like the majority of the bands, then get your tickets. Go in a group and take plenty of beer and an inflatable bed... AND PLENTY OF BOG ROLL!!!

The best British festival next year will probably be Glastonbury, unbeatable atmosphere. I went in '99 (I was 17) and some scallies tried to rob me at knife-point, it was my first festival and it was awsome, but be careful.

There is a thread on here somewhere about festival horror stories, find it 'cos it's pretty funny.

My advice is to wait until you see an excellent line-up before committing, I've been Glasto, Leeds and Reading... V looked pretty crap this year (except Muse). I rekon Glasto will rule this year (if it's on) so keep your eyes open!

Peope keep on going on about how to take loads of nog roll but presonally i did and didn't go for 4 days!! was this the norm or was i just frightened to use the toilets? the ones in the main area were actually quite clean....

make sure u take loads of booze, you'll need it esp. thursday night when nothing to do..
and make sure good bands are playing and u don't have to sit through the likes of feeder and opm etc.......

God yes!v 1987, 1988, 1989.

won tickets backstage once and saw John peel and Ian Brown - god the Stone Roses were so bad that year!
Stopped going when I styarted to feel old but wish I went this year to see the Cult, Marylin Manson and Eminem

I went for the Friday. P J Harvey was absolutely amazing. Travis bore me to death, and the others weren't brilliant except Green Day were okay.

Not a patch on Glastonbury in terms of atmosphere and content. Glasto is so much bigger, and the focus is a lot more on meeting people and having a great experience while Reading is more about the music.

Except for when its pissing down when the focus is much more on 'how long am I going to have to stay in this tent for'

Except when you have pissed in your tent, whilst drunk thinking it was 'funny', a mate of mine did that very trick. How we laughed when he sobered up.
