I've been an REM fan since the album Document, they are an awesome act though I have noticed that recently (from the album UP to date)that their stuff is starting to sound much like their other stuff that preceeds it, either I'm getting on or could it be possible that they are drying up? persil

Are you saying that UP sounds like their older stuff? Or am I misinterpreting?

The only new track i've heard is Imitations Of Life, and it does sound kinda like the old stuff, but i've not heard anything else off Reveal so I can't really say that they're ripping themselves off.

Reveal is supposed to be fantastic though. "Their best album ever?" say Q magazine, and they usually know what there talking about.

All my life what I had mistaken for friendly pats on the back were really the hands that pushed me further and further down.

i agree that their sound is much closer to earlier rem, but i wouldn't call it drying up.

i think rem is going through what u2 has just went through with "all that you can't leave behind", and that is they have come full circle.

with bands like these, who enjoy long standing success, they go through cycles where they experiment from what they've become known as (i.e. rem - "monster") and then come back to their core sound.

it's stuff like this that makes music great and makes u2 and rem appeal to so many.
