Right so i am getting my boyfriend some form of ipod/zen etc for xmas.

I'm a bit confused as to what the difference is between an MP3 player and an MP4 player?

what would play music and films?

and what would you recommend?

    I would recommend zens, and Mp4 does film.

    Creatives are good. Unlike iPods, they don't require the software provided with them (you can use Windows Media Player) and don't have built in batteries. Some Creatives take AAA batteries and others take their own type of battery, but it's removable and can be replaced.
