So here we are, on the dawn of a new world that sees Harry Potter (Small Whoop)and The Lord of the Rings (Bigger Whoop) make it onto the big screen. But what do you think?

Should books be made into films, or does it ruin the magic?

Best films of books.
Worst films of books.

Thanx $ listnin

(this was supposed to be in entertainment, what can I say, I'm crap at this stuff)

ur right, this should blatantly be in entertainment, we'll just have to wait for a mod to move it.

and i'm not overly excited about either of them. i dislike fantasy and i don't generally agree with classics, so yeah.

If there's anything more important than my ego around here, i want it caught and shot now

Lord Of The Rings looks quite good. I like fantasy, but I'm sick of the Harry Potter hype already.

I pretty much agree, although I never saw the big deal with Harry Potter in the first place. I have just grown to hate him more <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/biggrin.gif">.

Harry Potter? Looks crap but its going to be fu*king huge!

Lord of the Rings- like I can be arsed reading the whole trilogy! The film looks neat.

Personally, I can't wait for Spiderman, Star Wars: Episode Two (looks fantastic) and the movie of Resident Evil. The next Matrix should be pretty cool too. I need to get a life!

    Don't belive the hype

The Harry Potter books are the best things I have ever read and I was disappointed when I heard it was gonna be a movie. The books require imagination and everyone has their own image in their head of what the characters looks like etc...what if the movie just totally ruins that!

I'm still gonna watch it just to see what I think but I still reckon they shouldn't have made it.

As for Lord Of The Rings, I've never read the books but the movie doesn't look my kinda thing I don't think.

I absolutely loved the Harry Potter books, and I am looking forward to seeing the film. However I must admit the images I had in my head are nothing like the trailers I have seen. So, we'll just have to wait and see.

As for Lord of the Rings. Call me ignorant but I also can't be bothered to read them all. I started the Hobbit and gave up after 100 or so pages.

Im really looking forward to both, but I do think that the hype has been overdone.

And Turtle! Don't be nasty to Fraz. He's new, and has to learn the ropes still, but he will, so lay off for a few months, yeah?

Fraz . . . Don't take any notice of Turtle. You know that when he's on the site noone else can fit on due to his ego.

    *hugz Fraz better*

Harry Potter is NOT over hyped <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/tongue.gif"&gt; It's worth all the attention it's getting, but I guess if you don't like it (why wouldn't you?) or haven't read it (hurry up!) it would just be bloody annoying.

Personally I don't give a damn about either of them. What I hate about these commercialised films is how much merchandise is based on them. Especially with this happy potter bollocks, already theres coca cola adverts, muliple games and a whole load of other crap.

Should have kept lord of the rings as a classic book, never a film.

I used to read plenty of Discworld books when I was a bit younger but now I'm not really into fantasy anymore. I thought the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings were quality books though, but I'm not sure if making a film about based on them was a good idea.

I'm sick of hearing bout Harry Potter and don't have the slightest urge to read one of the books or see the film on the big screen.

    Does anyone remember that crappy pseudo cartoon/film of Lord of the Rings. There's always a prob turning a book into a film, especially fantasy, coz no 2 peoples imagination is the same. And i have some really wierd fantasies! The body-builder one is good <IMG alt="image" SRC="http://www.thesite.org/ubb/smile.gif"&gt;
