It's definitely an exciting point in life to be moving out like that. I hope it goes well for you. Good luck and enjoy meeting all those new people! :)

Just throw yourself into it Rach, it will pay off I promise. Go into the living room now and ask if anyone fancies nipping for some lunch and a nosey around.

If they say no, then hey ho, but at least you tried, and more than likely when they do want to do something, it will be you that they come to.

Have a super dooper time babes!!

I had a cold for my first week of uni...and then you will get freshers flu. It is inevitable.

Are you living in halls? Are there other people in different flats. Could be an idea to branch out a little. I spent the majority of my first year in the flat upstairs.

its a flat but i think its just a nicer version than halls..the only shared space is the kitchen..then we each have our own room with an ensuite..did some 'bonding' today and going to the bar later with everyone..i just hate being sooooo shy

I had real trouble last year as nobody really wanted to do anything. I was only with 4 nurses and they were full time. Made friends elsewhere though :) it really depends on the people you're with! Good luck! :)

You'll probably find that many people are in the same situation as you. Good luck!

The general advice I know of (and kind of followed -as a result it kind of helped) was: Speak to everyone! As long as you're still all new there, say hi to anyone you come across (alone or in a group, but don't leave someone you're talking to to talk to someone else). You're bound to find people with similar interests who'll be talkative enough to keep talking, even if you aren't.
    Good luck! :)

mm its okay...i feel a bit like an outsider with my flat mates.

i think freshers week is a load of wank.. i mean i know everyone raves about it but everything is so blatent and geared up to a certain type of person and anyone who doesnt fit the party 'bubbly' get pissed type feels alienated..but thats just my view..like you have to fit a certain type of demographic and yeah iv found people who arent into clubbing and just prefer chats in bars but it would have been easier if they were my flat mates..i dont want any tension or for them to think im boring

Have you met any of your course mates yet? I met mine today and I found that, even though I do get on really well with my flatmates, I would probably have more to talk about with people on my course and I found it easier to talk to them.

yeah its weird you said tht..met girl from my course today and we get on so well...its a shame we dont live together but yeah going to walk to lectures with her as soon as they sort out my time table.

i havent followed the freshers week planner and just do what i want which i think looks antisocial to my flat mates but i dont really like big parties and clubbing...i did attempt a party with them but it was a bit naff..so instead went to see simon amstell tonight yay
